== WORK ON NEW YATTON RAILWAY BRIDGE STARTS ==<br />
WORK on a new £1 million railway bridge in [[Yatton]] is underway. <br />
The new bridge, which is set to be completed by the end of February next year, will replace the current bridge which is structurally unsound. <br />
<br />
The need for a new bridge was identified earlier in the year after the completion of a Railtrack feasibility study. <br />
<br />
A three tonne weight restriction and subsequent width restrictions were put in place in the summer in the interests of public safety. <br />
<br />
While the work to install the new bridge is carried out, traffic restrictions will be in place. <br />
<br />
From October 29 to December 3, one way traffic signals will be in place on the bridge. <br />
<br />
From December 3 until December 17, the bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic. <br />
<br />
On December 17 the bridge will be reopened to vehicles using one way traffic lights. <br />
<br />
From January 7 2002 the bridge will be closed to traffic until February 25 when the new bridge is set to open. <br />
<br />
During the completion of the new bridge, access to homes, businesses and Yatton Station will be maintained. Pedestrian access across the bridge will be maintained throughout the work. <br />
<br />
Resurfacing and preliminary work for a traffic calming scheme will also be carried out in Yatton High Street during the bridge closure to minimise disruption. <br />
<br />
During the closure of the bridge, traffic is advised to use the M5 and A370.</div>BristleGWR
