History

Opened on 1st July 1903. Closed to passengers on 3rd April 1961 and goods on 20th June 1966 with the exception of a private siding. This was the busiest station on the Wootton Bassett to Patchway route with receipts almost equalling the combined total of the rest. The up platform was 399ft long while the down platform was 402ft.

  A zoomed shot of the station site. It's nice to know that despite being long closed to passengers it is still in railway use.

  This view of the station area is taken from a footpath that runs across a field on the opposite side of the railway. In order to get the next sequence of photos I had to wave the camera about above my head and hope for the best! This is the site of the old goods yard. The station itself was slightly to the east (left in this photo)

  A reasonable photo of the stoneblowers stabled on site. The closest one is split into two for maintenance.
