History
Bridge No 40 was replaced during the 1930s as part of a program of strengthening works which allowed heavier locomotives to use the line. The concrete central support was added at the same time. (replacing ten cast iron columns).

The old Midland Railway bridge across the River Avon has been left high and dry with the railway removed either side of it. These views were taken 1988-9.
