I approached a spot that gave a good view of the Severn Tunnel by climbing these steps buried in the undergrowth. These steps were fenced off two days after the next photo appeared on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post! -
The Severn Tunnel. The embankments are artificially high here (and at Cross Hands Road) because it's where all the spoil from digging the tunnel was dumped. The embankments also provide the tunnel with protection from flooding. -
As good as a close up as I could get. I kinda expected the actual tunnel portal to be a bit more special architecturally than it is.. ah well :) The modern Severn Bridge crossing can be seen in the background. -
