History
Bridge No 44. The bridges on the section of railway between Bath and Mangotsfield were replaced during the 1930s by the LMS to allow heavier engines to traverse the route. (Previously operated with nothing heavier than 4-4-0 Compounds). However, Midland Bridge was not replaced but strengthened and as such is the only surviving original Midland Railway river bridge on the route.

One section of the bridge across the avon now carries a road instead of a railway. The other section of the bridge has been removed and replaced by a pedestrian bridge.
