3rd. The spire on the clock tower at Temple Meads was destroyed by a German incendiary bomb in an air raid.
6th. Long Ashton Halt closes.
March
16th. Montpelier station buildings destroyed during an air raid.
30th. Route between Ashley Hill Junction and Kingswood Junction temporarily singled due to bomb damage.
31st. MR withdraws its Mangotsfield to Clifton Down service.
October
9th. A Whirlwind fighter aircraft crashes at Saltford station, embedding itself in the weighbridge pit. The pilot died.
