Frog Lane
To Bristol or Wales: The Ha'Penny Bridge
To Yate or London: Farm Bridge
History
I have no idea if this track is part of Frog Lane. The maps show the lane starting at Frog Lane Farm, and the section of old trackbed beyond the farm seems to share the name at least part way, but this section of track is unnamed on every map I have.
There are two railways here. The main Bristol & South Wales to London (via Parkway) mainline, and an old colliery line that served Frog Lane Pit. The colliery railway went under the mainline at 90° and joined the Midland mainline at Westerleigh Sidings. There was also a spur from the colliery railway to Coalpit Heath station.

Before we reach the bridge under the mainline we are rewarded with a great view of The Ha'Penny Bridge with the site of Coalpit Heath station just beyond.

The bridge under the mainline.

Looking through the bridge, the route the colliery railway took is very easy to make out.

Further along the trackbed. According to the map, this is where the spur that went to Coalpit Heath station left the line.

The gate is where the trackbed joins Frog Lane proper. On the left is Frog Lane Farm, on the right is a track that heads off in the direction of Yate. The railway went straight ahead to Frog Lane Pit.

We headed back, leaving further exploring of Frog Lane 'till another day. A great place for a quick game of kick-a-long though..
